Did you know that computers were the future? Well, in case you didn’t, we revisit this futuristic fairytale from 1984 where a guy buys a computer and gets into a love triangle with his computer and his attractive cello playing upstairs neighbor. Electric Dreams is an example of the famous Robert Hughes quote: “Nothing dates faster than our vision of the future,” yet it does seem to predict metadata, the algorithm, tech surveillance, and our anxieties over artificial intelligence.
