In a tribute to Mike Shank, we discuss both American Movie and the movie American Movie is about, Coven. In our discussion of both movies, we profess our love for DIY creative projects and the way folks were less sophisticated in the 1990’s. We also examine the ways in which American Movie makes fun of it’s subjects in ways that are less palatable now, and how despite everything, Coven is a better movie than one might expect.
